Battle of Mosul

The Battle of Mosul was a major military campaign from October 2016 to July 2017, where Iraqi forces, with international support, fought to retake Mosul from ISIS control. Mosul was a strategic city in Iraq, and ISIS had declared it their self-proclaimed capital. The battle involved intense urban combat, with Iraqi troops, Kurdish forces, and coalition air support working to clear the city of militants. It was one of the largest and bloodiest operations in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, ultimately reclaiming the city but also causing significant destruction and displacement of residents.
