Base Ecclesial Communities
Base Ecclesial Communities (BECs) are small groups of Catholic believers that meet regularly at the local level to study the Bible, discuss social issues, and support each other’s faith and community development. Originating in Latin America, they emphasize active participation, social justice, and Christian living in everyday life. BECs aim to empower laypeople to be more involved in their faith community, advocate for social change, and foster a sense of shared responsibility and solidarity. They serve as a grassroots way to deepen faith and address local social and economic concerns through collective effort and spiritual growth.
