Bartholomew Roberts was a famous early 18th-century pirate from Wales, known as one of the most successful privateers of his time. Operating mainly in the Atlantic and Caribbean, he captured numerous ships and was recognized for his leadership and discipline among pirates. Roberts often restored the crews of captured ships rather than destroying them, earning a reputation that set him apart. His career ended in 1722 when he was killed in battle.
