baroreceptors

Baroreceptors are specialized sensors located in the walls of blood vessels, primarily in the neck and chest. They detect changes in blood pressure by responding to the stretching of blood vessel walls. When blood pressure rises, baroreceptors send signals to the brain, which helps regulate blood pressure by adjusting heart rate and blood vessel diameter. Conversely, if blood pressure drops, they help trigger mechanisms to increase it. This feedback loop is essential for maintaining stable blood flow and ensuring that vital organs receive adequate oxygen and nutrients.
