Bare-Metal Stents

Bare-metal stents are small, tube-like devices made of metal that are inserted into narrowed or blocked blood vessels, typically to treat conditions like coronary artery disease. They act as scaffolding to keep the artery open, allowing blood to flow freely. Unlike drug-eluting stents, bare-metal stents do not release medication to prevent re-blockage. They are often used in patients with lower risk of scarring or in situations where medication release may not be necessary. While effective, they may carry a higher risk of re-narrowing over time compared to their drug-eluting counterparts.
