Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline is a major crude oil transportation route that runs from Baku in Azerbaijan, through Georgia (Tbilisi), to the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in Turkey. It spans about 1,770 kilometers and was built to securely and efficiently move oil from the Caspian Sea region to global markets, bypassing unstable routes such as Russia or Iran. The pipeline enhances energy security, diversifies supply options, and supports economic development in the region. Its construction involved international cooperation, addressing geopolitical, environmental, and technical challenges.
