Baghdadi
Baghdadi generally refers to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the former leader of the extremist group ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). He declared himself the caliph of a self-proclaimed Islamic state, aiming to establish a strict interpretation of Islamic law across territories they controlled. His leadership was marked by violent conflicts, territorial gains, and severe human rights abuses. In 2019, he was killed during a US military raid. The name "Baghdadi" also relates to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, which is historically significant in the region's political and cultural history.
