Bacterial infection
A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade the body and multiply, causing illness. Bacteria are microscopic organisms that can live in or on the body, and while many are harmless or beneficial, some can cause diseases like strep throat, urinary tract infections, or skin infections. The body’s immune system responds to fight off these bacteria, but sometimes the infection overwhelms this defense, leading to symptoms such as fever, redness, pain, or fatigue. Treatment often involves antibiotics, which target and kill the bacteria, helping the body recover. Proper hygiene and wound care can help prevent many bacterial infections.
