Ayoreo people
The Ayoreo are an indigenous group native to the Gran Chaco region of Paraguay and Bolivia. Traditionally, they lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering forest resources. Today, many Ayoreo have settled in villages and face challenges such as land loss, deforestation, and cultural erosion due to external influences and encroachment. Despite these pressures, they maintain rich cultural traditions, languages, and social structures. The Ayoreo represent a complex blend of their historic way of life and adaptations to modern society, highlighting issues of indigenous rights and environmental preservation.
