Ayodhya dispute
The Ayodhya dispute is a long-standing conflict in India concerning a site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, a major deity in Hinduism. In the 16th century, the Babri Masjid, a mosque, was built at this location. Tensions rose in the 20th century, leading to violence and the mosque's demolition in 1992 by Hindu activists. The dispute involves religious sentiments, cultural identity, and legal claims. In 2019, the Supreme Court of India ruled in favor of constructing a Hindu temple at the site, while allocating land for a mosque nearby, aiming to resolve the conflict.
