Avastin
Avastin, or bevacizumab, is a medication used in cancer treatment. It works by blocking a protein called vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which helps tumors grow by forming new blood vessels. By inhibiting VEGF, Avastin aims to starve tumors of the nutrients and oxygen they need to grow. It is often used alongside chemotherapy for various cancers, including colorectal, lung, and breast cancer. While it can be effective, Avastin may also have side effects and is tailored to individual treatment plans by healthcare professionals.
