Australian Parliamentary System

Australia's parliamentary system is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. The Parliament consists of two houses: the House of Representatives (lower house) and the Senate (upper house). The government is formed by the party or coalition that has the most seats in the House of Representatives, led by the Prime Minister. The Parliament makes laws, scrutinizes the government, and represents citizens. The Queen is the ceremonial head of state, represented by the Governor-General, who performs formal duties. This system balances legislative, executive, and ceremonial functions, ensuring responsible government and checks and balances within constitutional limits.
