Australian Broadcasting Control Board

The Australian Broadcasting Control Board (ABCB) was established in 1948 to regulate broadcasting in Australia. Its main responsibilities included licensing radio and television stations, ensuring compliance with broadcasting standards, and managing the allocation of frequencies. The board aimed to promote fair competition and protect public interests in broadcasting. In 1976, it was replaced by the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal, which later evolved into the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) in 2005, continuing the role of overseeing and regulating the broadcasting and communications sectors in Australia.
