Aurochs

Aurochs were large wild cattle that roamed Europe, Asia, and North Africa until they became extinct in the 17th century. They were the ancestors of domestic cattle and were characterized by their impressive size, powerful build, and distinctive long, curved horns. Aurochs played a significant role in early agriculture and culture, often depicted in ancient art. Their extinction was primarily due to hunting and habitat loss. Today, efforts are underway to breed animals that resemble aurochs, known as "rewilding," to restore ecological dynamics and preserve biodiversity.
