Attribution-Process Model
The Attribution-Process Model explains how people determine the causes of their own and others’ behaviors. When something happens, individuals analyze the situation to decide whether it was caused by internal factors (like personality or effort) or external factors (like luck or circumstances). This process involves several steps: noticing the behavior, interpreting the situation, and then making a judgment about the cause. This model helps us understand why we assign certain reasons to behaviors and how our perceptions influence our reactions and judgments about ourselves and others.
