Attraction-Selection-Attrition Process
The Attraction-Selection-Attrition (ASA) process describes how organizations tend to become filled with similar types of people. First, organizations attract candidates whose values and skills align with their culture. Then, they select those who fit well. Over time, individuals who don't fit as well may leave voluntarily or be encouraged to do so. This cycle results in a workforce that is quite homogeneous in attitudes and behaviors, reinforcing the organization's existing culture and making it more difficult for diverse perspectives to emerge.
