Attalid Dynasty
The Attalid Dynasty was a ruling family that governed the city of Pergamon (in modern Turkey) from around 241 to 133 BCE. They established a powerful kingdom known for its impressive architecture, cultural achievements, and support of arts and learning. The Attalids expanded their territory through diplomacy and warfare, fostering a vibrant Hellenistic culture blending Greek and local influences. Their rule ended when the Roman Republic took control after the death of the last Attalid ruler, leading to Pergamon becoming part of the Roman Empire. The dynasty is remembered for its contributions to art, architecture, and scholarship.
