Atmospheric Electrical Discharge
Atmospheric electrical discharge is the flow of electrical energy that occurs when the Earth's atmosphere becomes electrically charged, typically during storms. This process involves the buildup of positive and negative charges in clouds and the Earth's surface. When the electrical potential becomes sufficiently high, it is released rapidly as a flash of lightning, which equalizes the charge difference. Lightning can occur within clouds, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground. These discharges are natural electrical events that help settle charge imbalances in the atmosphere, playing a key role in weather phenomena and the Earth's electrical environment.
