Atlantic Forest
The Atlantic Forest, or Mata Atlântica, is a vast and diverse rainforest along Brazil's Atlantic coast, stretching from Brazil's northeast to the south. It is one of the world's richest ecosystems, home to thousands of plant and animal species, many of which are unique to the region. The forest provides vital ecological services, including climate regulation, water supply, and carbon storage. Despite its importance, much of the Atlantic Forest has been cleared for agriculture, urbanization, and development, making conservation efforts crucial to preserve its biodiversity and ecological functions.
