Astigmatism correction
Astigmatism correction involves adjusting the way light enters the eye so it focuses properly on the retina. The cornea or lens has an irregular shape, causing blurred or distorted vision. Treatments like glasses or contact lenses use special cylindrical (toric) lenses that compensate for this irregularity, helping light focus correctly. Refractive surgery, such as LASIK, reshapes the cornea itself to eliminate the uneven curvature. These methods improve clarity by ensuring that light is directed accurately to the retina, resulting in sharper vision for people with astigmatism.
