Asteroids and Comets

Asteroids and comets are rocky and icy objects originating from space. Asteroids are mainly made of metals and minerals, and they mostly orbit the Sun within the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Comets are composed of ice, dust, and organic compounds; when they approach the Sun, the heat causes their ices to vaporize, creating a glowing coma and sometimes a tail that points away from the Sun. Both are considered remnants from the early solar system, offering clues about its formation and evolution.
