Associated Negro Press
The Associated Negro Press (ANP) was a news agency established in 1919 to provide and disseminate news to African American newspapers across the United States. It was created to ensure that Black voices and stories were accurately represented in the media, countering the often biased coverage in mainstream outlets. The ANP gathered newsworthy events, cultural stories, and issues affecting the African American community, and shared them with its member publications. By doing so, it helped to promote Black journalism and informed the community, playing a vital role in the civil rights movement and advocating for social justice.
