assimilation and integration

Assimilation and integration are two concepts related to how individuals or groups adjust to a new culture. Assimilation refers to the process where a minority group adopts the customs and values of the dominant culture, often losing aspects of their original identity. In contrast, integration involves a mutual exchange, where minority groups maintain their unique identity while also participating in and adapting to the dominant culture. Integration promotes diversity within a cohesive society, allowing for coexistence and the sharing of cultural traits without complete loss of one's original background.
