Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy
Robert F. Kennedy, a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate, was assassinated on June 5, 1968, shortly after delivering a victory speech following the California primary. The shooting occurred at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, where he was shot by Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old Palestinian with a history of mental health issues. Kennedy died from his injuries the next day. His assassination shocked the nation, following closely behind the earlier killings of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. This tragic event raised concerns about political violence and the safety of public figures in America.
