Aspergillus
Aspergillus is a common type of fungus found in the environment, especially in soil, decaying organic matter, and indoor air. While many people inhale its spores without problems, certain individuals—such as those with weakened immune systems or lung conditions—can develop illnesses from it. These infections, called aspergillosis, can affect the lungs or other parts of the body, and sometimes cause allergic reactions. Aspergillus spores are prevalent and usually harmless, but in vulnerable people, it can lead to health issues, especially if it grows in areas like the sinuses or lungs.
