Asparagus asparagoides (bride's bonnets)
Asparagus asparagoides, commonly known as bride's bonnets, is a vigorous perennial vine native to South Africa. It features delicate, fern-like foliage and elegant, small cream or white star-shaped flowers that bloom in spring. The plant produces trailing stems with distinctive, shield-shaped green segments known as cladodes, which help it mimic foliage and support its growth. Bride's bonnets is often used as ground cover or in hanging baskets due to its attractive appearance. While visually appealing, it can become invasive outside its native range, spreading rapidly and potentially displacing native plants.
