Asharite theology

Asharite theology, founded by Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari, emphasizes God's absolute sovereignty and omnipotence. It teaches that God's will is the ultimate reality, and human understanding is limited. Humans can know God's existence and some attributes through reason and revelation, but God's knowledge and power surpass human comprehension. The Asharites affirm that God's nature is beyond human grasp, and divine qualities like justice and mercy are manifested through God's actions. They advocate for a balanced approach, recognizing divine authority while maintaining moral responsibility, and reject excessive rationalism that undermines faith.
