ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)
The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) is a regional body established in 2009 by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Its main role is to promote and protect human rights in the ten Southeast Asian member countries. AICHR works to enhance awareness of human rights issues, provides recommendations, and engages in dialogues with member states. While it doesn't have enforcement power, AICHR plays a vital role in fostering cooperation and advancing human rights standards across the region, reflecting ASEAN's commitment to improving the quality of life and dignity for its people.
