ASCAP, or the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, is a membership organization for creators of music, such as songwriters, composers, and music publishers. Members join to protect their rights and earn royalties when their music is performed publicly—whether on the radio, in venues, or online. ASCAP collects these royalties and distributes them to its members based on how often their music is played. By joining ASCAP, members gain support in managing their creative works and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their contributions to the music industry.
