Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye
Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye, meaning "Victorious Muhammadan Army," was an 19th-century Ottoman military reform movement initiated in the 1820s. It aimed to modernize and strengthen the Ottoman military by adopting Western-style organization, training, and technology, reversing earlier decline. Led by Sultan Mahmud II, the reforms included establishing new infantry and artillery units, replacing outdated systems, and improving discipline. This transformation was part of broader efforts to modernize the empire and maintain its sovereignty amid European competition. The Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye played a crucial role in revitalizing Ottoman military effectiveness during a period of significant political and social change.
