Arthur Zimmermann
Arthur Zimmermann was a German diplomat and the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs during World War I. He is best known for sending the Zimmermann Telegram in 1917, a secret message to Mexico proposing a military alliance against the United States if the U.S. entered the war. This telegram was intercepted and made public, turning American public opinion against Germany and helping bring the United States into the war. Zimmermann’s actions significantly influenced the course of WWI and are remembered as a key moment in diplomatic history.
