Aromas and flavors

Aromas are the scents or fragrances we perceive from a substance, like the smell of berries in a wine or roasted coffee. Flavors, on the other hand, are the combined sensations of taste (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, umami) and aroma that we experience when eating or drinking. Together, aroma and flavor create a complex profile that defines the character of foods and beverages. For example, a strawberry tastes sweet and tangy (flavor) and has a fruity, fresh smell (aroma). Both work together to give us the full sensory experience of what we consume.
