The Army of the Danube was a military force established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809 during the War of the Fifth Coalition. Its purpose was to advance along the Danube River to confront Austrian and allied forces in Central Europe. The army played a key role in the Battle of Wagram, helping secure a French victory and forcing Austria to surrender. It was composed of French and allied troops tasked with controlling a strategic region, facilitating Napoleon’s broader campaign to dominate Central Europe during the Napoleonic Wars.
