Army Air Forces
The Army Air Forces (AAF) was the aerial warfare service component of the U.S. Army during World War II, operating from 1941 to 1947. It was responsible for everything related to military aviation, including strategic bombing, transport, reconnaissance, and supporting land and sea operations. The AAF played a crucial role in gaining air superiority and projecting power worldwide. In 1947, it became an independent branch of the U.S. military, known today as the U.S. Air Force. The AAF was key to modern aerial warfare, combining technical innovation with large-scale military operations.
