Arid Land

Arid land, also known as desert or dry land, is an area that receives very little rainfall—typically less than 250 millimeters (about 10 inches) annually. Because of this limited moisture, these regions often have sparse vegetation, exposed soil or rocky surfaces, and extreme temperature variations between day and night. Despite harsh conditions, some plants, animals, and humans have adapted to survive in arid environments. Arid lands can be found in many parts of the world, including deserts like the Sahara, the Middle East, and parts of Australia and North America.
