Argus Panoptes
Argus Panoptes is a figure from Greek mythology, known as a giant with many eyes—sometimes said to have hundreds. His many eyes allowed him to see in all directions, making him an excellent guard or watchman. He was entrusted with protecting Hera’s special cow, Io, and was often depicted as an ever-vigilant guardian whose constant awareness made him nearly impossible to sneak past. The story emphasizes his role as a vigilant observer, symbolizing thoroughness and perpetual watchfulness.
