Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) is a water management technique where excess surface water, such as during rainy periods, is injected into underground aquifers for later use. This process stores water underground, protecting it from evaporation and contamination. When needed, the stored water is pumped back to the surface for use in irrigation, drinking, or industrial needs. ASR helps optimize water resources, especially in arid regions, by balancing supply and demand, improving drought resilience, and reducing stress on surface water sources.
