Aperture (camera)

Aperture refers to the opening in a camera lens that controls how much light reaches the camera sensor. It is measured in f-stops (like f/2.8, f/4, f/8), where a lower number means a larger opening and more light, while a higher number indicates a smaller opening with less light. Aperture affects not only exposure but also depth of field, which determines how much of the scene appears in focus. A wider aperture creates a blurred background, isolating the subject, while a narrower aperture keeps more of the scene sharp and clear.
