Antonio Nariño was a Colombian lawyer, politician, and writer who played a key role in early independence efforts from Spanish rule. He is best known for translating and publishing the Spanish Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which promoted ideas of liberty and equality. Nariño's advocacy for freedom and his opposition to colonial authority made him a symbol of Colombian independence.
