Antimuscarinics

Antimuscarinics are medications that block specific nerve receptors called muscarinic receptors, which are involved in controlling the muscles and secretions of the body, especially in the bladder, lungs, and digestive system. By inhibiting these receptors, antimuscarinics help reduce involuntary muscle contractions, making them useful for treating conditions like overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, and certain respiratory issues. They work by calming overactive muscles, leading to decreased urgency, frequency, or spasms. While effective, they may cause side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, or constipation.
