anti-G straining maneuver

The anti-G straining maneuver (AGSM) is a technique used by pilots and astronauts to counteract the effects of high gravitational forces (G-forces) experienced during rapid acceleration or turns. When experiencing high G-forces, blood can pool in the lower body, causing a decrease in blood flow to the brain, which may lead to G-induced Loss Of Consciousness (GLOC). To prevent this, individuals tighten their leg and abdominal muscles, perform controlled breathing, and sometimes use specific postures to maintain blood flow to the brain, helping them stay conscious and focused during intense physical conditions.
