Anthony Benezet

Anthony Benezet (1713-1784) was a pioneering American abolitionist and educator. Born in France, he settled in Pennsylvania and became a vocal advocate against slavery. Benezet's writings, particularly "A Historical Account of Guinea," challenged the moral and ethical justifications for slavery, emphasizing the shared humanity of all people. He also founded one of the first schools for Black children in America, highlighting his commitment to education and equality.
