Anterior knee pain syndrome
Anterior knee pain syndrome, also known as runner’s or jumpers knee, involves pain in the front of the knee around the kneecap (patella). It often results from repetitive stress or overuse, causing irritation and inflammation of the tissues connecting the kneecap to the shinbone. This condition is common in athletes and active individuals who engage in activities like running, jumping, or squatting frequently. Symptoms may include aching pain during activity, swelling, and sometimes tenderness around the kneecap. Rest, activity modification, physical therapy, and in some cases, support or injections can help reduce symptoms and promote healing.
