ant trails
Ant trails are organized pathways created by foraging ants to efficiently find and return to food sources. As ants discover food, they release a chemical scent called pheromones along their path. This scent attracts other ants, reinforcing the route with more pheromones each time it’s used. Over time, a well-established trail forms, guiding large groups of ants directly to resources, optimizing their foraging efforts. When the food source is gone, the trail gradually fades as fewer ants follow it, allowing the colony to adapt and find new sources efficiently.
