Ansky Expedition

The Ansky Expedition, led by ethnographer and archaeologist Solomon Ansky in the early 20th century, aimed to explore and document the cultures, languages, and traditions of Indigenous peoples in Siberia and northern Eurasia. The expedition sought to preserve knowledge of often-little-studied communities, many of which faced cultural changes or decline. Through detailed fieldwork—including collecting stories, music, and artifacts—it contributed significantly to understanding the diversity and richness of these indigenous cultures. The expedition's work provided valuable anthropological and linguistic insights that continue to inform research today.
