Ann Richards

Ann Richards was an influential American politician and the 45th Governor of Texas, serving from 1991 to 1995. A member of the Democratic Party, she was known for her strong advocacy for education, health care, and women's rights. Richards gained national attention for her charismatic speeches and her sharp wit, particularly during the 1988 Democratic National Convention. She was one of the few female governors in the U.S. at the time and broke barriers for women in politics. After her governorship, she remained active in public life, championing progressive causes until her death in 2006.
