Ankle instability

Ankle instability occurs when the ankle joint feels weak or gives way during movement, often due to previous injuries like sprains that damage the ligaments supporting the ankle. This can lead to a sensation of the ankle "giving out," making it difficult to walk or engage in sports. It may result from stretched or torn ligaments that haven't healed properly or from repeated injuries. Treatment involves rest, strengthening exercises, sometimes braces or physical therapy, and in severe cases, surgery to repair or tighten the damaged ligaments. Addressing ankle instability is important to prevent further injury and restore normal function.
