Ankle Impingement

Ankle impingement occurs when soft tissues or bones in the ankle become pinched or compressed, often due to injury, overuse, or repetitive movements. This compression causes pain, swelling, and limited motion, especially during activities that involve pointing the toes or turning the ankle. It commonly affects athletes or those with a history of ankle sprains, and symptoms can include aching or sharp pain and difficulty walking or bearing weight comfortably. Treatment may involve rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, or in some cases, surgical intervention to remove or repair the impinging tissues.
