Angola Civil War

The Angola Civil War, which lasted from 1975 to 2002, was a prolonged conflict in Angola following its independence from Portugal. The war primarily involved two main factions: the MPLA (People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola), supported by the Soviet Union and Cuba, and UNITA (National Union for the Total Independence of Angola), backed by the United States and apartheid South Africa. The conflict was fueled by political, ethnic, and ideological differences and resulted in significant loss of life and displacement. It ended with a peace agreement, but the legacy of the war still affects Angola today.
