Anglo-Saxons

The Anglo-Saxons were a group of tribes that inhabited England from about the 5th to the 11th centuries. They originated from areas in present-day Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. This period was characterized by the formation of several kingdoms and the establishment of early English culture, language, and legal systems. The Anglo-Saxons are also known for their art and literature, including the epic poem "Beowulf." Their influence ended with the Norman Conquest in 1066, which brought significant changes to England's social and political landscape.
